Learning outcomes of the learning unit

After the completion of the course, the students should be able to:






  • master the basic concepts of communication and their incidence in the processes of communication in public health
  • identify issues of communication in various public health contexts
  • demonstrate understanding of ethical values central to publc health communication
  • apply methods and tools appropriate to different contexts and audiences
  • plan a public health  communication initiative
  • evaluate communication strategies and programs in public health

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

  • class teaching with power point support
  • 3 group works (compulsary): 4 students groups (preferably to modify for each work); these works will be initiated during the courses and supervised during their realisation by email exchanges; one work will concern the design of a communication approach in a specific context of public health (communication plan)

Assessment methods and criteria

The evaluation will concern the 3 works produced during the 4-months periode (these works are compulsary and their success exempts from the oral examination). An oral examination will be organized for students not having obtained a satisfactory average for all the 3 works
