Units courses prerequisite and corequisite

Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program

Learning unit contents

Implicit, parametric curves and surfaces Polynomial interpolation and approximation Mathematical model and geometrical interpretation of Bézier and B-spline curves and surfaces NURBS curves and sufaces Subdivision surfaces Use of a CAD software
Solving simple CAD problems by programming in a dedicated environnment in C/C++

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

Curves and suface modeling in CAD software is based on tools that are explained both in theory and practice in this course. The aim of the lectures is to give to the student an opportunity to understand and know how to use adequately these tools, and to know their limts and/or strengths. The theoretical part of the course is accompanied by practical exercices on the NX CAD software. Students will also be able to solve simple CAD problems in an C/C++ environnment

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

Bachelor in engineering

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Ex-cathedra lectures Practice on the NX CAD sofware Practice on geometric programming (c/c++)

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

Face-to-face & CAD / programming labs

Recommended or required readings

Assessment methods and criteria

Catia Software(20%) Programming project (20%) Final exam (60%) These three items are compulsory and have to be satisfied independently with marks over 10/20 for each of them.
