Units courses prerequisite and corequisite
Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program
Learning unit contents
Teaches, based on experimental observations, how to build mathematical models describing the non linear behavior of solids, especially elasto-plastic, visco-plastic and visco elastic material models. Subsequently describes the numerical algorithms suited for model solution.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Being able to
- Understand and design complex material models
- Understand numerical techniques to solve the model
- Use a finite element code for structure simulation in the elastic-plastic domain.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Mechanics of materials, continuum mechanics and finite elements.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Exercises + personal project
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
1st quadrimester. Face to face + exercices + computer project.
