Learning unit contents
CERL level of the course: A2Study of basic grammar and vocabulary, based on the 4 skills: reading and listening comprehension, writing and speaking exercises.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Students will focus on basic grammar and vocabulary and improve their 4 skills through various exercises and activities.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The course is meant for students who have attended the first year of Dutch for beginners. A level A1 is thus demanded.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Each lesson is based on a listening comprehension exercise in an everyday situation (at work, on a business trip, etc.). Comprehension exercises, grammar and vocabulary drills and written or oral assignments will complete each lesson.The class will be based on the first 5 lessons of the coursebook Nieuwe Start 2 - néerlandais professionnel (niveau intermédiaire) - éditions De Boeck (2016).
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
2h every week. Homework and preparations are planned throughout the year. Students should attend classes and participate actively. Possibility to follow online @lter courses.

2) Basic Vocabulary Coursebook (already used in level 1)

Assessment methods and criteria
1) Two vocabulary tests during the year. Those tests are marked and are part of the written exam (20%). The student can be exempted if he obtains at least 10/20 to each test.
2) Written exam in January.
The written exam will be composed of grammar (30%) and vocabulary (30%) exercises, as well as a reading exercise (20%).
