Learning unit contents
In order to be able to follow the courses taught in English in their future Master degree, students must be able to: - understand and summarise information - make presentations - take part in seminar activities - write a report By covering 4 units of Market Leader Upper-Intermediate and Advanced, students will have to practise the 4 skills (reading and listening comprehension, speaking and writing). The topics covered are the following: international marketing, crisis management, raising finance and management styles.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
In agreement with the ILOs, the course aims at consolidating the B2 level and reach the C1 level thanks to a variety of activities covering the four skillss.
In practice:
-Speaking: the student will be able to express themselves fluently on business and economic topics, hold a meeting and make a presentation.
- Writing: the student will have to be able to deliver a high quality essay, using accurate and professional vocabulary and correct grammar structures.
- Reading: the student will have to be able to understand an unseen press article, and summarize it, rephrase the information, comment on it and answer questions about its contents.
- Listening: the student will have to be able to understand and extract the message of an unseen video or audio extract, and render the information in their own words or answer questions about the contents of the extract.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Students must have a B2 level.

Variety of activities: discussions, vocabulary exercises, listening and reading comprehension, case studies and presentations.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Face-to-face teaching.
Recommended or required readings
The course is based on 4 units of Market Leader Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. The notes are given in class as well as press articles for further reading found in the English-speaking press. Links to videos are also proposed on Lol@.

Assessment methods and criteria
The final mark is calculated on the basis of the following assignments and tests:
In-class assignments:
- a presentation and two case studies: 20%
- a report and a pitch: 20%
Written exam (listening and reading comprehension and an essay): 30%
Oral exam (reading an unseen article followed by a discussion): 30%
In second session, the written and the oral exams are both worth 50% of the total mark.
The students have to carry out all the projects during the semester. if this is not the case, they will have to re-sit the exam in August.

Organizational remarks
Students are distributed in groups of 30. Groups 1 and 2 will meet in the first semester on Tuesday mornings (8:30 till 10:30 and 10:30 till 12:00), group 3 will meet on Tuesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 in the second semester .
Important:Students taking English part 1 must take English part 2 in the second semester.
The exam of groups 1 and 2 will take place in January, the exam of group 3 will be held in June.
