Learning unit contents
Use of Dutch socio-economical vocabulary and texts. The basics of grammar and vocabulary acquired during the preliminary programme will be applied not only through written but also through oral exercices about the socioeconomic life in Flanders and in the Netherlands. Students will be invited to pay attention to the correct pronunciation of Dutch sounds through exercises.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The student will be expected to master the linguistic grammatical and lexical tools in order to be able to use them actively when he/she expresses himself/herself in Dutch, particularly in the spoken language.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The Dutch class given in the preliminary programme or, failing that, a good knowledge of basic Dutch.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Four essays to be handed in during the year (cf. schedule handed in at the beginning of the year) and a reading file (distance learning).
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Theoretical notions of Dutch pronunciation and constant attempts to raise student's awareness of the correct pronunciation of Dutch and of the observance of Dutch grammar rules.
Grammar, vocabulary, translation, listening comprehension and oral expression exercises.
Student's presentations.

Assessment methods and criteria
- Vocabulaire des affaires : the student will be asked to study parts 1, 2 and 4.
- The written tasks to be handed in during the year and the two oral presentations will account for part of the final mark.
- Final assessment: listening comprehension (new text), transcription, translation, grammar, written expression and oral expression.
