Learning unit contents

The class is divided into 10 sessions, the first of which is an introduction to the class. The following 9 sessions are centered around societal issues. Each of them contains input (texts and videos), exercises on that input and language exercises (grammar, vocabulary, style, pronunciation, etc).

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

The two main objectives are the following:

  • the ability to write a comment on a text or a video in rich and correct English;
  • the ability to discuss a text or a video in fluent and correct English.

Prerequisite knowledge and skills

B2 level (CEFR).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

The class is mainly taught in the shape of group oral presentations. Each of the 9 sessions is chaired by a group that corrects some of the exercises and runs the discussion session on the texts and videos to prepare.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)

The course consists of 2/3 of class work and 1/3 of personal work.
