Learning unit contents
The course will mainly focus on simultaneous interpretation in the booth. Many topics will be adressed like how to deal with accents, speed for instance. Increased speech difficulty. Same training exercices as in Ma1 (split attention, concentration, reformulation, décalage) This list is not exhaustive
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
By the end of this course, students will be able to interpret from English into French a 10 to 15-minute maximum speech in simultaneous in the booth.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
French as mother tongue or equivalent knowledge. Active listening to English- and French-speaking radio programmes or podcasts. Reading the newspapers in English and French
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training exercises in the booth. Increased difficulty speeches. Podcasts, videos, speech-writing and reading exercises, split attention, reformulation, delivery. The list is not exhaustive.

Assessment methods and criteria
The grade will be determined by the result of the final exam. This exam will take place before an examining panel chaired by the module leader and composed of ULg/HEL interpreter-trainers, as well as external professional interpreters. The module leader will have the final say in case of divergence of opinions between the members of the panel. The performance of the student must be faithful to the original, clear and will have to make sense. Delivery into French will also be assessed by the panel.
