Learning unit contents
The course will approach the religious upheaval which established the Reformation in the general context of the numerous attempts of reformation and the movements of revival which knew the Church during the low Middle Ages as well as the deep changes of mentality which characterize this particular period of the history of Europe. This course meets at the same time history of the spirituality, of mentalities, of the political and social history of Europe during the XIIIe-XVIIe centuries.

To contribute to a better knowledge of this religious phenomenon crucial for the history of Europe, of its origins and his impact on numerous spheres of the western society.

Organizational remarks
The weekly schedule of the course is fixed with the students during an information session at the beginning of the second four-month period. The presence in the sessions is asked.
To widen the approach of the subject, a part of the course consists of readings of books or chapters concerning additional aspects in the notions explained during the sessions. Readings of sources are also planned.
