Learning unit contents
Current debates in Prehistory, in particular for the Palaeolithic period. Based on current themes, the course also deals with different theoretical and methodological aspects of prehistoric research and the evolution of cognitive abilities via archaeological artefacts.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
Stimulate thought on the potential of archaeological assemblages for understanding long-term changes, human behaviour and cognition, and evolution.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
A basic understanding of (cf. bachelor courses) of Prehistory is preferrable.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Seminars on specific themes or material.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Seminars directed by the professor, her scientific personnel and invited colleagues.
Recommended or required readings
Copies of the presentations are available, as well as the main scientific articles relating to the themes discussed.
Assessment methods and criteria
Active participation in the seminars is an important means of evaluation, but an oral exam is maintained (exam session in June).

Organizational remarks
This course is only organised in uneven years. It will not be organised during the academic year 2017-2018, but it will be organised again in 2018-2019.
