Learning unit contents
This course proposes an overview and an application of the main principles and the most usual techniques used to model how an organization is performing, both from an internal perspective and in an external strategic perspective, independently from its form, and to build up an adequate Information System allowing to guarantee its control in a short-, middle- or long-term perspective. It focuses on the one hand on the modelling techniques used to represent an organisation from an internal and a strategic perspective and on the other hand on the elaboration of a performing Information and Control System really adapted to the design of the organization. It is composed by 2 different complementary modules : - The first one is dedicated to the modelization of the organiation based on the "Business Model CANVAS" and on the GRP Model, including the identification of its key processes and activities. A special focus is made on the interactions between the organization and its main clients, suppliers and controllers. -The second one is dedicated to the techniques used to model value creation flows and their control (either organizational, commercial, financial or information flows).

- Presentation of the basic principles of the themes covered during the course, with the support of mental maps created with a "Mind Mapping" software :
- Modelization of the Value Chain, with key processes and activities
- Modelization of the strategy based first on the use of the Business Model CANVAS and then on the GRP Model
- Identification of the main information flows that are characterizing this organization and analysis of their contribution to value creation, linked to real management questions asked by the managers of this organization.
- Proposition of tools, procedures, behaviors and rules allowing to increase the performance of this information system in a perspective of continuous performance improvement.
This work is realized in an organization still to be created or in a very young organization (less than 3 years old).
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The course is organized in 10 sessions of 3 hours, organised around an individual presentation followed by a discussion with every work group. A specific work or a detailed follow-up of the practical work has to be realised every week.
The course starts on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 15.30 in Room 223.
