Learning unit contents

The overall objective of the course is to deconstruct some stereotypes associated with the concept of aging. More concretely, various problems related to or associated with normal aging (senescence) are considered, as: (1) the origins and characteristics of the aging population (demographics), (2) the questioning of psychometric model of cognitive decline, (3) the description of some theories explaining how a person adapts to his aging and maintains a good quality of life, and (4) to understand Alzheimer's disease to better interact with this pathology.

Learning outcomes of the learning unit

To have some theoritical and methodological knowledges in connection with the present knowledges about normal and pathological ageing.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam with multiple choice questions (questions with five possibilities of answers, or true / false).
Rating system which provides a penalty for wrong answers (usually 1 point for a correct answer, 0.5 points for a mistake, and 0 if no response or a response "I do not know").
