Le cours is divided in 7 chapters.
1. Introduction
2. Climate System
3. Paleoclimate archives
4. Dating methods
5. Climate forcings
6. Evolution of climate over time
7. Introduction of climate modelling and climate predictions
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The aim of the course is to present the climate system and its main forcings and, to define the paleoclimate approach.

None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
(a) Various kind of exercices: collect of information from specialised websites, observation and analyse of sedmimentary archives, treatment of data, reading of scientific papers. A personal laptop is recommanded.
(b) Visit of a research laboratory and/or fieldtrip.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
Course will be given during the first semester. 10 times 3 hours par week. Lectures followed by exercices. Room: building B18, Geology

Assessment methods and criteria
Examination will include two parts.
Theory (60 % of final quotation). Individual oral examination (15 minutes + preparation). Comments of figures and/or tables presented during the lectures.
TP
Written report of exercice (10%). Personal work (30%). Synthesis of a chosen climate event, oral presentation and written report.
