1. Identification criteria and remarkable characteristics
2. Reference books
3. Systematic (about 50 families)
4. Collection, conservation and handling of tropical vegetal samples.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit
After completing the course the student is expected to : ·Be able to identify botanic families through vegetative characteristics. ·Be able to describe vegetal samples with adequate terms. ·Be able to identify species by using determination keys and reference books. ·Be able to collect, conserve and prepare vegetation samples.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
Basic knowledge on botany
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course is integrated in the module "Tropical Forest" that will be given in a logging concession, in the middle of the Cameroonian rainforest. The illustrated theoretical lessons will be completed by identification activities in the forest.
