Learning outcomes of the learning unit
The course aims at introducing the fundamentals in organic chemistry. This strategy rests on the functional-group approach and a mechanistic approach.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills
The present course follows that given in the first year.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The participation to the practicals is mandatory.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning)
The photocopies of the transparencies are available for the students.
Recommended or required readings
Organic Chemistry, J. McMurry, 6e édition, Thomson - Brooks/Cole, Belmont, California, USA, 2004;
Photocopies of the transparencies (± 500 pages);
Experimental Organic Chemistry. Principles and Practice, L.M. Harwood et C.J. Moody, Blackwell Scientific Publications;
Molecular models "Orbit molecular building system", Aldrich, réf. Z18,475-6;
Assessment methods and criteria
