Presentation / Study programme
Orthopaedic manipulative physiotherapy (OMT) is a specialised branch of physical therapy dedicated to the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions based on clinical reasoning and using highly specific treatment approaches including manual techniques and therapy exercises. OMT is based on the scientific and clinical evidence, as well as on each patient's biological, psychological and social characteristics (IFOMPT, 2004).
Objective
This is a two-year training programme run in collaboration with the University of Ghent, leading to a University Certificate in Manual Therapy. The certificate meets the requirements of the ministerial order of 22 April 2014, defining the accreditation criteria authorising physiotherapists to acquire the professional qualification of manual therapist (training programme worth 75 ECTS after obtaining the title of physiotherapist). The certificate granted meets the requirements of the "International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT)", allowing holders to obtain international recognition.
This training is internationally recognised after having been audited and accredited by the International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT - http://www.ifompt.org/) which is a branch of the `World Confederation for Physical Therapy¿.
