Learning unit contents :
-definition of nutritional epidemiology and associated concepts.
-data collection methods relating to nutrition and the biases inherent in these methods.
-nutritional status indicators.
-stages involved in a nutritional survey.
-validation studies for the tools necessary for nutritional epidemiology.
-examples of major studies on nutrition.
-a summary of current knowledge about the links between food and pathologies.
Learning outcomes of the learning unit :
Students will grasp the resources neccessary for the implementation or contribution of a critical approach to a study on nutritional epidemiology.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
The following courses will be taught: Principles of scientific investigation, epidemiological part-the determining factors of health-Assessment of public health programmes-Introduction to an approach to public health research.

Recommended or required readings :
There are no lecture notes. A PowerPoint presentation and a folder of scientific papers will be provided to students on the "My Ulg" website.
