| The first work experience for students in speech and language pathology involves the observation of cases of developmental disorders of spoken language, written language and basic numeracy (ability to calculate). The internship comprises 300 instructional hours. The intern at Master's level must perform 220 hours of training in the field and 80 hours of training under the supervision of the tutor. | |||||

| Seminars revolve around complex situations encountered by students during their intership. They aim the student's reflection on his clinical work, collaboration with peers to identify ways to explore, and the confrontation of the opinions on the relational and ethics aspects related to speech therapy practice. | |||||

| Objectives of this internship are determined according to an established repertoire of skills required in Speech and Language Pathology. The purpose of the internship is the development of two clinical skills, first, assessing a patient, and second, "treating patients who have complaints that are part of the field of action of Speech and Language Pathology. " In addition, the internship is intended to familiarise students with a variety of resources (various skills, and proper professional behaviour) that facilitate certain skills across the curriculum, such as how to establish a professional relationship (particularly with patients) and how to acquire the expertise necessary to provide a high-quality service to patients and to society in the practice of speech therapy. | |||||

| The internship (220h) will be supervised by a speech and language pathologist acting as a tutor, someone chosen by the internship teachers as a group. At the beginning of patient evaluation, the tutor and the student will agree on modes of supervision. The tutor's goal is to help the student gradually take responsibility, shifting from mere observer status to partial therapeutic autonomy.
The supplementary internship (80h) concerns the following areas: language assessments, goals of the intervention, therapeutic baselines, history background, conclusions of the language assessment. |

| The SAS are organized with student subgroups (10 to 12 students). At each seminar, a time is first devoted to the presentation of an ethical and deontological vignette by a pair of students. Then, each student present a complex situation encountered during his intership. The instructions for this presentation are announced at the first seminar. After each presentation, a moment of discussion and exchange with other students is organized.
Each session is framed by a member of the University teaching staff (for aspects of content) and a member of the team of Social Psychology Groups and Organisations (for the group dynamic aspects). |

| Mandatory attendance. Students enroll in the subgroup of their choice.
Work is required on student absence, even under medical certificate. This work will depend on the content of the seminar in which the student was absent. In addition, the student who would be absent once without justification will remove 2 points from its score of SAS. The student who would be absent more than once without cause will get a failing grade. |

| Evaluation of the students' performance as interns (220H internship) will be based on an established repertoire of required skills. Interns must download two copies of this list on e-campus and give one to their tutor.
1) At mid-course> Evaluation of training in three stages: * Self-assessment by the trainee. * Assessment of the trainee by the tutor using the same criteria. * Consultation meeting between the student and tutor, to compare opinions and to revisit the goals of the internship for that student (may include setting new objectives).
2) End of course: A further assessment for grading purposes, and also for purposes of certification (by the teaching staff) : same as at mid-course, above
Next, the student submit complete assessment documentation (graded evaluation by tutor and student) by the trainee to the university. The tutor will also give a qualitative assessment of the successful completion of the internship (Excellent, Very Good, Good, S, ...).
* The mark awarded by the tutor will be converted to a numerical grade (by the University teaching staff) and will be worth 40% of the final mark.
For the second internship (80 hours), the assessment will be given by the clinical tutor and will be worth 20% of the final mark.
The remaining 40% will be allocated according to the internship report, marks awarded by the University teaching staff. The student will give her/his report to the University teaching team, by June 1 at the latest for the first session or by August 18 for the second session. When one party is failed, the overall grade of the intership is the failure score of 7/20 without this rating can not exceed the overall average of three parties not less than the rating the failure in part. Note about spelling: if the report for the first session contains more than 10 spelling errors, it will be rejected and must be resubmitted in the second session. Each time a report must be resubmitted, a point will be taken away from the final mark for the internship. If the report submitted in the second session contains more than 10 spelling errors, 2 points will be removed from the student's final mark for the course. Note concerning the deadline for submission of the report : The student agrees to respect the deadline imposed for the internship report to achieve. The student will make his report in person to the paper to the secretary Joëlle Laboulle (ground floor of B33) no later than June 1 2016 (for the 1st session) or 18 August 2016 (for the 2nd session). In parallel, it will send an electronic copy of the email to the University teaching staff for the same period (1 June 2016 for the 1st Session, August 18, 2016 for the 2nd session). In 1st session, given the delay in report will result in a failure internship note 1st session and will be made in the second session. In the second session, if the internship report is submitted late, the student will remove 2 points from his internship note. |

| The assessment is based on the quality of
1) The presentation of ethical and deontological situation;
2) The presentation of the complex situation encountered in the intership;
3) Participation in group discussions ;
4) The reflection on the contribution of SAS in skills development (clinical and / or transversals) of the student and its objectives for the intership and the seminar during Master 2.
The Seminar is related to the internship. Therefore, the student who fails the intership and follows the intership again the next year will also follows a new cycle of SAS in parallel. |
