Course contents :
The course mainly consists in translation exercises that students will prepare at home, and which will then be corrected and discussed in class. The exercises will be based on texts from different sources (specialized journals, general press, primary literature and academic journals) and dealing with various topics relating to the students' chosen curriculum. This course does not involve a systematic revision of grammar.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Help students to understand and comment upon any academic text in English. The focus will be on the most complex structures of written language, as well as the lexical difficulties and elements of discourse that make the correct interpretation of an elaborate text difficult.

Good knowledge of English.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam consisting in the translation from English into French of a text that has not been studied in class as well as excerpts from texts translated in class. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary.
The mark of the midterm exam in January will count for 10% of the June final grade if > or = 10/20 (the mark will have no effect on the final grade if it doesn't reach 10/20). Please note that the final exam for this course is cumulative.
