Course contents :
The course is an introduction to the key concepts in the sociology of immigration and integration (integration, culture, ethnicity, interculturalism, racism, transnationalism, asylum, migration)
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, the student should be able to use these concepts to analyse social situations

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
MODE OF DELIVERY: FACE-TO-FACE.The course consists in about 10 sessions (2 hours each) plus the complusory participation in a few lectures organized by CEDEM. The presence in class is highly recommended. Powerpoint supports will be distributed at the end of the semester.

Assessment methods and criteria :
First Session: In the written evaluation, particular attention will be given to the ability of the student to practice the epistemological break and get out of pre-concepts and common sense. During the written exam, the student will problematize the sociological issues at the center of the course through the analysis of a situation identified in the recent events related to migration, citizenship and intercultural relations.
