Course contents :
This course aims to introduce students to the major key concepts of psychology of disability (impairments, disabilities, handicaps, social participation, inclusion) through the main international classifications: the ICF and PPH. It will address key areas of this discipline (diagnosis, integration, quality of life, self-determination) through theoretical and practical situations. It will also give the student the opportunity to gain awareness about his representations and stereotypes concerning disabled people.
Intellectual disability will be addressed through the motor, psychomotor, language and cognitive development in young child at risk. (Neuro-) motor disability and associated disorders will also be addressed through the development of young children with cerebral palsy or multiple disabilities.
We also receive guests to discuss and think about different themes. This year, we will address the question of the education to inter-personal, emotional and sexual life as well as the question of the place of professionals as part of the accompaniment of young disabled children in early intervention service.
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, students will gain awareness of the main characteristics of the psychological development of people with physical or mental disabilities and will have a better understanding of the psychological issues of interventions and of the role of the physiotherapist in this process.

This course is based primarily on formal lectures  illustrated by example, discussions, and films. Profesionnals will be invited to share their experience.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Written exam Class attendance to sessions with external guests are mandatory and conditions the access to the written exam. For multiple choice questionnaire, the teacher keep the opportunity to suppress some questions that were found to be ambiguous or misleading, in favor of the whole group.  For the written exam, a failure to questions about the basic concepts of the course and identified as such will lead to a maximum score of severe failure (7/20).

We will receive guests for some course sessions. The presence is mandatory in these sessions and determines access to the exam. Any absence must be duly justified to Magali Ngawa or Line Vossius, course assistants, within 8 days of the session.
