Course contents :
This course is based on a series of questions asked by Whitehead about the capacity of language to give an account of fluid reality. Do we possess a conceptual apparatus capable of grasping the real, and if so, can our language, with its static structure, reflect reality's dynamism? In the light of these questions we will examine sometimes antithetical positions adopted by major Anglo-Saxon authors: Bacon, Hobbes, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Mill, Russell, Wittgenstein, etc.
