Course contents :

| The course will begin with an introduction to the historic background to the literatures of the African diaspora. The course will be devoted to the discussion of selected texs, including three novels, a film and a play, addressing various facets of the notion of masculinity. | ||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, students are expected to master the main theoretical notions pertaining to the study of masculinity in literature. They will be able to use these notions in the textual analysis of literary works. | ||

| Good knowledge of English. | ||

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Second term, 2 hours a week. The course involves seminar discussions and the active participation of students. | ||

Poems and a few essays will be available at the beginning of the course.
