Course contents :

| Oral and written activities based on texts and articles dealing with educational matters. Students will be required to participate actively in the course, which implies that they must have read the texts before coming to class. | |||||

Learning outcomes of the course :

| Improving the four language skills, mainly passive language skills such as reading and listening but there will also be some speaking and writing exercises.
Enhancing students' ability to cope with English texts (understanding, summarizing, reacting to the content). Allowing students to speak about various topics related to educational sciences through oral presentations and discussions based on the texts of the coursebook. |

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

| The level of this course corresponds to the European levels B1-B2. Students will thus need to have a good basic knowledge of English and a thorough knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar studied in the first-year course. | |||||

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Weekly 3-hour class in a group of 25 students from February to May (Partim 2).
Thorough preparation is required so as to enable students to progress throughout the year. |

Vocabulary and reading comprehension exercises based on an unseen text and on extracts from the texts studied in class. Oral exam in June (50% of the final mark): Selected chapters from the book "How People Learn" will be discussed. |
