Course contents :

| Pigments and colorants have been broadly used in most works of art, but also in a great diversity of Cultural Heritage objects. This pieces may be studied from an archaeometric perspective.
This course focalises on the methodological approach to study pigments: their observation, physicochemical analyses and alteration/degradation issues. A general introduction to the history of pigments, from prehistory to the modern period will be included. Part of the lectures will be devoted to the analysis of case studies and critical evaluation of bibliographic sources (scientific texts, etc.) |

To learn the basic methodology for doing research in this field. |
