This class is meant as an introduction to the (internal and external) history of the Dutch language. It deals with the following issues:

Learning outcomes of the course :

||
| 1) Understanding of the different processes of standardisation of the Dutch language 2) Ability to use specialised literature in a critical manner, with a view to deepening the student's knowledge in the field. |

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :

||
| Understanding of written and spoken Dutch.

| Critical reading and presentation of the relevant scientific litterature. Analysis of examples that are representative of various stages and/or evolutionary mecanisms. | ||
