Course contents :
Survey of the evolution of literary genres, study of the major authors and cultural currents in Dutch literature from 1700 to 1880.
Learning outcomes of the course :
Introduction to the history of Dutch literature in the 18th and 19th century. Improvement of the students' literary and cultural competences, and of their understanding of the mechanisms of literary evolution and historiography.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Good notions of spoken and written Dutch.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Reading of representative text fragments and discussion of significant images.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Duration and period: 30h of theory in the 1st semester.
