Course contents :
The objective of this course is to give basic knowledge on tropical ecosystems: phytogeography, origin, evolution, threats and management. It is divided in 5 chapters:

1. Bioclimatology 2. Description of the main vegetation types: moist forests, dry forests, woodlands, grasslands, mangroves 3. Distribution of the main vegetation types 4. Human impacts 5. Sustainable management
Learning outcomes of the course :
After completing the course the student is expected to: . be able to describe the main vegetation types; . be able to identify the major threats; . be able to suggest adapted management.
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Basic knowledge on ecology and botany required.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Face-to-face and many discussions with students who have to share their experiences.

Assessment methods and criteria :
Oral examination: the student will have 15 minutes to present the ecosystem where he will perform his master thesis (main characteristics, anthrogenic impacts, management methods).Then he will be questioned for max. 15 minutes.
