Remote sensing part

  • electromagnetic radiation

  • Surface signal acquisition and transfer
  • Analyse and interpretation of images
  • Applications to environmental problems in developing countries
GIS part

  • Data, information and knowledge
  • Information system
  • Geographical information : concept and specificities
  • Questions raised by the geographical information
  • Definition and classification of GIS
  • Applications to environmental problems in developing countries
Learning outcomes of the course :
Initiation to Geographical Information Systems and Image processing tools
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
Basis in Physics and Mathematics and good notions of computer sciences
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Exercises in the computers room on a GIS software and an image processing software
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
12 hours of theory and 12 hours of practical work, these being devoted to ARCGIS9.2 and ENVI
