Course contents :
| This seminar aims to cover the multiple facets posed by environmental issues and to respect its contradictions. | |||||
Learning outcomes of the course :
| The aim is to open the field of environmental questioning in term of its "integrated" character, i.e. by giving equal space to each of its protagonists. This seminar is centred around case studies. It aims to make the student aware of interdependence, but also the contradictions which can exist between different facets (scientific, technical, regulatory, socio-economic) of an environmental issue. It aims to address specific information on an environmental issue, i.e. information of a heterogeneous, fragmented and incomplete nature. The seminar is based on articulating skills through group and individual work. |

Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| None | |||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The principle upon which this course operates is that of switching between several activities: plenary sessions with the help of external collaborators and actors in the issue, a field trip and work sessions in small groups aiming to revise and discuss. An analysis table is proposed to this effect (CATWOE). | |||||
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| This seminar takes place in the first semester of the first year (core curriculum) of the Masters in Environmental Sciences and Environmental Management. It takes place over two weeks. | |||||
Recommended or required readings :
| Documents supporting the plenary sessions and the field trip will be available on-line. | |||||
Assessment methods and criteria :
| Assessment is carried out through a committee of supervisors. It is based upon an assessment of individual work (written report, daily summary, an exam in january) and group work (assessment of group work and oral presentation).
Notice : due to the collective dimension of the work to be carried on, the student's participation and attending to learning activity is mandatory ant taken into account for student's assessment. |
