| Medical and biomedical law : general notions of law, legal reasoning, judicial organisation; legal approach of patient-doctor relationship, medical contract, patient's rights (informed consent), access to medical files, incompetent patients, medical secrecy; medical liability (breach of contract / tort, damage, causation, no fault indemnisation); specific medical acts : sterilisation, abortion, euthanasia, autopsy and investigations, blood, organs and bodily material donation and circulation; general notions of medical ethics, ethical reasoning, basic functioning rules of ethical committees | |||||

| The student will integrate the basic and advanced concepts leading to the optimization of his/her interaction with health professionals and patients. He/she will integrate the ethical dimensions helping him/her to better take into account the global societal challenges that will help to improve his/her diagnostic and therapeutic armamentarium. Participative and proactive interaction would be considered as the basis of the course. | |||||

| First session : written exam (open questions, definition of notions, reasoning on a practical case) Second session : oral exam after preparation of a written question Students should bring legal texts (without any overwriting) | |||||

| A score of 4 points (out of 20) will be given for each attendance at the 7 lessons, but only the presence at 5 sessions of your choice is required to obtain the maximum score. The presence at the opening session , however, is mandatory under penalty of the loss of 8 points on the total obtained. You are obviously free to attend all sessions if you wish. For the second session, the student will have to realize a personal work of 25 pages, in one of the themes which will have been approached, during the teaching of the concerned academic year. The work must be put back in duplicate before August 15th, on one hand to Professor Boxho and on the other hand, to Professor Reginster | |||||
