Organisation and examination :
| Teaching in the first semester, review in January | ||||||||
Units courses prerequisite and corequisite :
| Prerequisite or corequisite units are presented within each program | ||||||||
Course contents :
| This course will cover energy aspects of a physcal unit operation in which mass and heat transfers are strongly connected: the drying of solids.
The course presents first mechanisms controling performance of this type of apparatus:
Learning outcomes of the course :
| At the end of the course, students will be able to apply the theoretical concepts and the analysis methodology of unit operations from the point of view of energetic consumption. They will be able to use this methodology to design and determine the size of a process, taking into account the energetic aspect. | ||||||||
Prerequisite knowledge and skills :
| A course "Chemical Engineering - physical unit operations" (e.g. CHIM0083-2)or a course with similar contents) should have been attended during previous years (or it should be attended the same year). | ||||||||
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| The course is based on self-learning, with the help of introductive sessions and answers to questions. | ||||||||
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Face-to-face and self-learning | ||||||||
Recommended or required readings :
| The course material is available on the eCampus website. | ||||||||
Assessment methods and criteria :
| A written exam is organized during the first session (January).
Evaluation relies essentially on the understanding of concepts and relationships between them rather on the capacity to make restitution. The exam proceeds with closed reference books.
The second session exam is organized in the same way as in January. |
