 | | Biological bases of aquaculture |

 | This course gives through an integrated approach the basis of fish biology related with aquaculture. It is dived in 5 chapters:
- Introduction: aquaculture status
- Reproductive biology: endocrinology, effect on environmental factors on reproductive cycle and on spawning, gamete composition, control of gamete quality, sexual maturation and spawning.
- Genetic: genetics of qualitative and quantitative phenotypes, genetic and environmental sex determinisms, sex control, transgenesis.
- Bioenergetic: metabolism, effect of environmental and biological factors on growth
- Fish stress: endocrinology of stress, physiological response to acute and chronic stressors. |
 | | Psychophysiological equilibria and welfare in fish |

 | Course will focuse on fish behaviour in aquaculture and the use in production as artificial reproduction and stress control. Aspects on fish welfare will be exemplified. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 | | Biological bases of aquaculture |

 | Through an integrative knowledge of the fish biology, the student has the bases necessary for the comprehension, interpretation and exploitation of the assets in the context of the aquaculture |
 | | Psychophysiological equilibria and welfare in fish |

 | Student will have the inforation usefull for fish behaviour observations in aquaculture and the knwledge on fish wellfare. |

 | | Biological bases of aquaculture |

 | Control of reproduction and artificial spawning of several fish species, larval rearing and weaning, effect of food on the growth, measure of metabolism, genetic markers. Analyzes of scientific articles in connection with the sets of themes approached in the course. |
