Course contents :

| The different events that make up this course (see: Planned learning activities and teaching methods) aim to accompany the construction of the professional student project. This course will help students not only to think about their professional projects, but also to construct them. In particular, it will enable students to:
a) Discover a range of professional facts relating to speech therapy;
b) Initiate reflection on the links between lectures and future professional practice;
c) Encounter, create connections and work with other students from Bac1 psychological and education sciences - speech therapy orientation;
d) Have the opportunity to think about the place of speech therapy in society. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| According to the latest update of the Competence Framework of speech therapist for ULg, here are the critical learnings that the student must acquire during the early years of the learning education:
1) Identify prevention devices
2) Identify the stages of an evaluation procedure and professional attitudes mobilized
3) Collect basic information
4) Identify the steps of a procedure for speech therapy and professional attitudes mobilized
5) Adopt an appropriate attitude in terms of language, attitude and dress code
6) Show respect to his peers
7) Communicate correctly
8) Create a representation of the profession of speech therapist
9) Identify professional associations and know the functions
10) Be in a process of self-assessment
11) Identify the functions and usefulness of research for speech therapy practice
12) Identify the relevant sources of information
The learning activities in the course will not only work on critical learning "To create a representation of the profession of speech therapist", but also to address a range of other critical learnings not worked elsewhere. The only critical learning that will not be developed during the course is "Collect basic information." |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| Different activities will be implemented :
1) plenary sessions.
2) profession-based conferences. Professional speech therapists will be present and will give an account of their career paths and professional experience. The students will be requested to engage with these professionals.
3) a choice of conferences. Students will attend a minimum of 1 conference of their choice. The student is responsible for finding the conference and to confirm his choice, by the teacher, before participating.
4) a choice of readings. Students will read a chapter imposed and choose a second chapter in a book that compiles the experiences of thirty speech therapists.
5) a mind map on his representation of the profession as a speech therapist. The student will create a mind map that illustrates his representation of the speech therapist and modify as you go.
6) Throughout the course, students will have to keep a journal. At the end of each event (profession-based conference, readings, conference of their choice), students will have to complete a form the framework of which will be given to them at the start of the course. |

Assessment methods and criteria :
 |
| The assessment criteria will be announced during the first session of the course. These criteria will take into account the presence at the different events and the quality of work submitted and presented into account.
* Obligatory presence at the following events (minimum):
- 5 profession-based conferences
- the choice of 1 conference
- 5 plenary sessions. For these sessions, only an absence supported by a medical certificate will be accepted and will be offset by additional work. The student inform the teacher as soon as possible which will then provide the instructions for the work.
Presence sheets will be taken at each event. With regard to the chosen conference, students will have to submit a certificate of presence supplied by the organizer.
* Written work with the following sections:
- the contents of the student's journal
- summary of the chosen conference and the two readings
- certificate of attendance at the chosen conference
- the "final" version of the mind map
- a written individual summary in which the student gives his or her personal thoughts on the apprenticeship, surprises and questions he or she has with regard to speech therapist and the exercise of his or her profession
- A self-assessment (with justification) on critical learnings
* Oral work :
This presentation will be made ¿¿by the group and focus on the conferences of the speech therapists. Instructions will be provided to students at the first class session.
Note about spelling: if the report for the first session contains more than 10 spelling errors, it will be rejected and must be resubmitted in the second session. Each time a report must be resubmitted, a point will be taken away from the final mark for the internship. If the report submitted in the second session contains more than 10 spelling errors, 2 points will be removed from the student's final mark for the course. |
