Course contents :
 |
| This course intends to analyse English and French in a contrastive perspective using a corpus of texts to be translated collectively. Specificities and differences will be identified and described with a variety of linguistic and translation theories. |

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| The course aims at deepening the students' ability to compare the syntactic structure of English and French, and at enhancing the idiomaticity of their language. It also intends to develop the students' analytical skills and to provide them with the necessary theoretical tools to write sophisticated linguistic commentaries on their own translations. |

| Excellent command of the English and French languages |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| Texts will be translated individually, individual translations will be corrected and commented upon collectively in a contrastive perspective. |
