Course contents :
 |
| This seminar consists of a series of lectures and conferences given by specialists on contemporary China and of presentations by the students, followed by discussions around the themes treated. Each theme will be preceded by readings. The themes covered in particular will be:
- the issue of the links between the political system and the law ;
- the development of civil society;
- the issue of the model of development and its sustainability; |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| The seminar aims to allow students to deepen their knowledge of the major challenges of development and population in the People's Republic of China, in order to highlight them in their professional lives. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
 |
| The students will prepare assigned readings and will give presentations on the thematics studied.
Reading materials will be available on the webpage of the course and at the university press. |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Face-to-face lectures and presentations by the students (small groups). NB: these presentations by the students may be done in English. |
 |
Recommended or required readings :
 |
| A wide range of ethnographic material will be used (posters, slogans, official documents, press cuttings, scientific articles, popular literature, video documents etc.) as well as photographs will be shown in slide shows (Powerpoint).
A collection of scientific texts will be made available to students. These should be used as reading material to prepare for each class. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| The students will be assessed according to their participation to the seminar and on the ground of their presentations of literature reviews. |
