Course contents :

| This sequence of lessons aims at giving students a solid knowledge of the development of cognitive skills.
The course will review the main theories that have influenced the field of cognitive developmental psychology. The methods currently used in research to observe the cognitive abilities in pre-verbal infants will be presetend as well as the clinical tools used to assess the development psycho-socio-motor development in young children.
Topics covered in this course are the development of oral language and the emergence of object concept, the development of attention, executive functions, and memory, the acquisition of written language, the development of numerical processing and calculation, the role of metacognition in school learning, the development of face recognition and social cognition,and finally the impact of socio-economic and socio-cultural factors on cognitive development. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

After this sequence of lessons, students will be able to represent the main developmental steps early psycho-socio-engine and have a general knowledge of typical cognitive développemert in the areas of language, memory, the attention, executive functions ...
It will be able to use his knowledge to identify the cognitive processes involved in the daily activities of children at play or learning and estimate the age of the children based on the situations presented (vignette) |
