Course contents :  
This course provides an introduction into the cognitive mechanisms underlying the perception and production of the sounds and groupings of sounds (words) of the human language. The normal and abnormal development of these mechanisms will also be discussed, from infancy to late adulthood.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The student will get familiarized with the cognitive mechanisms that underlie the (receptive and productive) processing of phonetic, phonological, prosodic and lexical aspects of human speech. The student will get familiarized with recent theoretical models of speech perception. The student will get familiarized with the factors that underlie the development of speech perception and production, including vocal production. Finally, the student will be trained in the use of psycholinguistic databases.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
- Ex-cathedra classes - Practical work and exercises: use of psycholinguistic databases, use of sound processing software, analysis of spectrograms, phonetic script and transcription training
