Course contents :  
The course deals with media education, especially in relation with training and learning.
Based on researches, it deals with different topics about media impact in several domains (e.g. communication, learning, work environment management, private life, digital identity, citizenship...).
Links are made with educational programs.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The course aims at developing the learner's media literacy.
  • Definie the concepts of media and media literacy
  • Distinguish media education and education supported by media
  • Exploit a typology crossing categories of activities and dimensions of media objects
  • Analyse educational programs or documents (research papers or reports) related to educational media
  • Search and select information on  a given topic
  • Verify the sources quality
  • Produce multimedia contents
  • Work collaboratively
  • Implement a research procedure to deal with a question concerning a course topic.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Introduction to ICTE (1st master in educational sciences, PEDA-4032-A-a, B. Denis)
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
  • Teacher's and experts' lectures
  • Learners' presentations on the analysis of a resaerch paper or report (prepared in sub-groups)
  • Debates
  • Mutimedia design and production
  • Practical work based on the use of different services of documents edition, communication and sharing
  • Use of the eCampus platform to communicate and share information with the professor and peers
  • Concrete learning and communication distance activities (f.i. through the use of a distance learning platform)
  • Development of a mini-research project or a ICT supported animation
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
The course consits in a blended learning environment combining face-to-face activities (3 hours sessions) and distance activities.

Online resources are available (eCampus platform).
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Professor's expectations: Active learners, having critical points of views, able to initiate themselves to different techniques and to make links with other courses.
