Course contents :  
On the basis of the course "training of early childhood professionals - partim I", this course gives students opportunities to deepen the analysis of the current challenges for initial and in-service training in the field of early childhood education and care. It introduces students to the analysis of various training systems and approaches to professionalization well-known in the field on the international level.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze, on the basis of references, training systems in regard to professionalization aims and develop a critical perspective on training and accompaniment dispositifs".
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Course of training of early childhood professionals, partim I.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
By groups, students will choose, among different proposals made par the lecturer, an internationally recognized, initial training system set in another country, analyse it and present it, in a critical and referenced way, to their peers. They refer to professionalization challenges identified, during courses of partim I, in the Brussels-Wallonia Federation to provide a background to their analysis. On the basis of ther referenced analysis, they will engage their peers in a debate.
The report they will write down includes the whole analysis and proposes realistic, pertinent and contextualised regulation proposals for the Belgium context.
The lecturer will propose a file containing necessary articles that will be extended to personal complementary resources. He will give the opportunity to take part in a study day related with the educational system of the choosen country. He will organize seminars about professionalization challenges with the possible contribution of experts in the field.

  • Seminars led by the lecturer,
  • team works,
  • meetings and debates with practitioners, researchers and training professionals involved in the field,
  • reading and analysis of training articles and documents
 
Recommended or required readings :  
A reading file including articles, source as well as bibliographical references providing a deeper look into the subject will be available for the students.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Collective presentation of a european training system to the other students and to the teacher,  developed in a written report :
Criteria:
  • documentary richness,
  • relevance and refinement of the analysis and consistency of the argumentation when dealing with the challenges of professionalization,
  • relationship between theory and practice.
Work placement(s) :  
15h practical work : participation and involvement in a study day about an European training system and gathering of data.
Organizational remarks :  
Optional cursus accessible to the students of 2nd master (Sciences of Education).
