Course contents :  
This course, in Spanish, studies a serires of important Spanish American cultural topics, from Conquest till the contemporary times. Special attention is given to the last decades.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The student should know the themes studied in the course and situate the important issues in the epistemology of the Spanish-American cultures.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Good comprehension (both oral and written) of the Spanish language.

David Toscana, El ejército iluminado.
Horacio Castellano Moya, Insensatez.
Ariel Dorfman, La muerte y la doncella.
Leonardo Padura, Máscaras.
Students in translation HEL Ulg should only read the books written by Dorfman and Padura.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Written exam in May/June on the course and the readings.
