Course contents :  
- Universal screening for deafness in French-speaking Belgium
- Late screening for hearing deficiencies and consequences
- Testing deaf children: initial assessments and care renewal assessments; administrative context
- Multidisciplinary audiophonological care for deaf children: the role of the speech therapist, therapy methods; contents of the hearing rehabilitation sessions
- The speech therapist / audiologist partnership
- The speech therapist / psychologist partnership
- The speech therapist / teacher partnership (in specialised or ordinary teaching)
- Schooling for deaf children: orientation criteria (BIAP 15/1) www.biap.org

Learning outcomes of the course :  
- Knowing how to draw up a complete speech therapy assessment of a child or adult who have become deaf
- Information and parental guidance as a speech therapist
- Orientation of the patient and their family with a view to receiving therapy
- Knowing the legal elements regarding speech therapy for a deaf patient
- Knowing the possibilities in terms of education and schooling for deaf children
Knowledge concerning hearing education for a deaf patient
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
1st year of master's degree in speech therapy or bridge justifying entry into the 2nd year Ability to code an oral exchange in cued speech Students must have begun learning sign language (French-Belgian sign language or French sign language)
