Course contents :  
The course is divided in two parts: theory and practical training. Students will get familiar with simultaneous interpreting techniques before moving on to pratical training. Techniques cover but not only memory exercices similar to the consecutive ones. Active listening, split attention, reformulation, visualization, concentration
Learning outcomes of the course :  
By the end of this course, students will be able to interpret in simultaneous a 6 to 10-minute speech from English into French
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
French as mother tongue or equivalent knowledge. Active listening to English-speaking and French-speaking radio programmes or podcasts. Reading the newspapers in French and English
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Simultaneous interpreting training in the booth based on short and simple stories, notes-reading, speeches, videos. Simultaneous exercices : shadowing, speech-writing, speech-reading, split attention, reformulation, delivery. This list is not exhaustive.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Oral examination The delivery will be assessed on its consistency, clarity and faithfulness to the original. Communication and linguistic skills will also be assessed.
