Course contents :  
Introduction to research in medieval History. Pratical exercises.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of the year, the student will be able
  • to initiate a documentary research
  • to identify a narrative or diplomatic source
  • to communicate orally or in writing the result of his/her research
  • to retranslate and to give a commentary on the latin texts given in courses
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Notions of classical latin grammar : LCLA0018-1 or LCLA0068-1
A perfect command of the oral and written French.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Theoretical introduction to rules of historical criticism in medieval history and to the typology of western medieval sources.
Collaborative practical exercises in class and individual pratice in library.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
