Course contents :  
This course constitutes a first approach of participative management.

1. Theoricals aspects of participative management 2. Tools of participation
3. Participation in tropical natural ecosystems (community-based wildlife management, social forestry...) 4. Participation in Europe 5. Rapid participation appraisial
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Starting with lectures by experts in natural ecosystems management and reviewing articles that express opposite opinions, management methods based on local participation are presented to the students. After completing the course the student is expected to propose methods that reconcile social, ecological and economic aspect for a participatory sustainable management of ecosystems. He must be able to use an assement grid allowing to estimate quickly the observed level of participation. He must finally be able to develop a critical mind and begin a reflexive approach on participation .
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

Bach : Agriculture urbaine; écologie urbaine; Sociologie urbaine et rurale; écologie paysagère et appliquée.
 
Master : Philosophie du paysage; introduction à l'aménagement du territoire; Paysage et développement durable.

Methods of autotraining in works groups and collective presentation.

During the course, different publications in french or english are distributed among the students.It is recommended to take note
