The course includes twoo parts.
The first part is taught by Dr. Denayer and  Dr. Joaquim-Justo concerns the impacts that anthropic pressures exert on ecosystems. This part includes a historic perspective of human impacts on the biosphere, the interferences with the main biogeochemical cycles, impacts due to toxic pollutants, physical pollutions and their impacts on ecosystems. Management strategies are consisdered for each compartment (air, soil, water).
The second par taught by Dr. Renzoni focuses on the specific impacts of industrial activities.
The main objective of this second part is to provide students with a methodology and Tools to help them through their professional life to identify and to assess the information concerning environmental impacts of anthropic activities.
One of the objectives of the course is to familiarize students with the main concepts of environmental impacts and to determine the behaviour of pollutants; another aim is to know the modes of formation of pollutants generated by human activities, detection methods and of reduction of these pollutants.
Students will be able to understand a depollution project by the knowledge of teh main depollution techniques for effluents from different types of human activities.
