Course contents :

| As final requirement of the Bachelor's degree, Political Science students have to write a final paper on a topic to be approved by the professor. This essay must not imply an original research but rather it is the synthesis of what has been written on the topic in order to confirm an hypothisis or to anwer to a research issue defined by the student. A significant bibliographical research - to be used in the paper - is therefore required. The students are asked to offer an original argument by the comparison of several sources as well as to show critical insight and the ability to synthesize. |

| Throughout the year, the students and the professor will meet in order to discuss their work.
The final draft will be read by the professor as well as a reader knowledgeable on the topic.

Assessment methods and criteria :

| The guidelines for the Directed paper are as follow:
-
- the length of the paper is 25 pages and has to follow several criteria (which will be given by the professor at the beginning of the year)
- the final grade will be given by the professor and a reader
- the evaluation criteria are : quality of the writing, of the bibliography, of the mobilised arguments, of the structure of the document, of the adequacy between the introduction / conclusion.

| The Directed paper is based on the interaction between the student, his/her fellow students, and the professor.
Penalties may be imposed if the students do not follow the procedure and the criteria.
The thematic and the reader have to be defined on paper before 21 octobre 2014 - 15h
Before decembre 16 2014 students send to catherine.fallon@ulg.ac.be a electronic document with the reserach question, a list of 10 references related to it and a one page text presenting the problematic
the final work document must be given to the Secretary
the deadline is 21/4/2015 (3pm) for the first session and 17/8/2015 (3pm) for the second session
If the paper is not distributed by the dates imposed, the student is considered as "ajourné" |
