Course contents :
In 2014-15, there will be two sections to this course. The first section intends to underline the policital and mediatic factors of the ermegence, in France, of the so-called "Nouveaux Réactionnaires" position. The second section will consist in a critical genealogy of several forms of discursive censorship and relations to this censorship (such as "political (in)correctness" or "newspeak").
Learning outcomes of the course :
This course takes the form of an intensive research seminar. It will not only encourage an in-depth analysis of the mechanisms behind mediatic discourse, but also gives students the methodological training for drafting their final dissertation.
