| 1. Origin and general properties of pesticides and biocides
2. Introduction to toxicology and regulatory requirements for risk assessment
3. Methodology for risk assessment of chemical contaminants
4. Risk assessment : exposure of operators
5. Risk assessment : consumer exposure
6. Risk assessment for the environment (contamination of water, soil, pesticide drift, effects on non-target organisms and auxiliaries) |

Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| At the end of this course, the student must be able :
- to know the origin of pesticides and biocides and understand the issues of chemical control in the general framework a sustainable agriculture.
- to know the main properties (physico-chemical, biological, toxicological and ecotoxicological) for the risk assessment of pesticides and biocides
- to adopt a methodological approach in risk assessment
- to apply the mathematical models and make the calculations for estimating the exposure of operators and consumers to pesticides

| Conducted working groups
Hybrid course (workload 30 h) :
Read and identify key points in an european regulation on pesticides (understanding, glossary). Prepare a Power point (about 20 slides). Oral presentation. Oral answer to questions. |

The note of the work submitted by students will be postponed for the second session. Only the oral examination can be presented in the second session for 60% of the final grade. |
