Course contents :  
The course consists of specifying a theoretical aspects of information retrieval followed by practical exercises on the search for scientific information in the context of a research scientist.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Finetuning techniques in documentary research so that students acquire the tools they need to write their final dissertation in the next study cycle.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Notions in general documentary research.

Basic scientific English.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Studentsa re expected to complete exercices in documentary research. Exercices shall be adapted to the selected options. To make sure the course fits the students' present and future requirements, Work submitted for evaluation will consist of a bibliographic report on the topic of the course that students realize the third bin in the research laboratories of chemistry at the University of Liège.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Theoretical part through slide presentations, followed by workshops.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Students will have to produce an in-depth docuùmentation research on a given topic. They will have to be able to formulate questions using bibliographical language and to interrogate two bibliographical data bases. They must also assess the relevance of their research and locate those documents they consider to be of interest. Such expertise will prove necessary when they write their final dissertation.
